The Mt. Sterling Advocate took home four awards from the Kentucky Press Association’s Excellence in Newspapers Contest for 2017.
The Advocate is judged against other weekly newspapers throughout the state.
Editor Jamie Vinson received first place in the breaking news category for the 2016/2017 news cycle for coverage of the Rayburn’s Market fire. Vinson also received third place for best front page design.
Advocate reporter Brianna White took home second place for best enterprise/analytical story and third place for best general news story.
