Montgomery County Industrial Park gets AT&T ‘Fiber Ready’ designation, helps economic development | KyForward.com

Representatives from AT&T, local leadership, and the Mt. Sterling-Montgomery County Industrial Authority today announced that the Mt. Sterling Industrial Park has been designated AT&T Fiber Ready.

In today’s world, connectivity is vital to employers and businesses of every type and is a catalyst for economic development.

“The effort to attract new businesses to communities – especially in rural areas – is increasingly competitive, and as we work to continue improving the business-friendly environment in the Commonwealth, the AT&T Fiber Ready designation provides the opportunity to clearly show the presence of modern communications services. This can be a valuable tool as we continue to aggressively recruit new employers to the area,” said State Senator Ralph Alvarado.

That’s exactly what AT&T is aiming for, said Hood Harris, President of AT&T Kentucky.

“The Mt. Sterling Industrial Park as an example of the many places across Kentucky where AT&T’s fiber infrastructure is in place and ready to help local businesses drive job creation,” said Hood Harris, President of AT&T Kentucky. “Each and every day, our employees are turning our billions of dollars of investment into high-speed Internet for consumers and businesses across Kentucky.

Mt. Sterling Mayor Gary Williamson agreed on the value of the Fiber Ready Designation.

“With this new AT&T Fiber Ready designation, we can clearly communicate to the business owners we are working with that the fiber-optic infrastructure that businesses need to succeed is available in Mt. Sterling,” Williamson said.

The AT&T Fiber Ready designation helps economic development leaders more effectively position their communities for site selection by emphasizing the availability of high-speed, fiber-based services.

Wally Johnson, Montgomery County Judge Executive, said the designation “will help us to emphasize the presence of the high-speed, communications capabilities that businesses require in today’s economy.”

AT&T has been deploying high-speed, fiber-optic infrastructure across the Commonwealth for years, and the AT&T Fiber Ready designation is a tool for economic development leaders to highlight the assets available in their facilities.
