Saint Joseph Mount Sterling Earns ‘A’ for Patient Safety
One of approximately 800 hospitals nationwide to receive highest rating designation
Mt. Sterling, Ky. (May 2, 2016)— Saint Joseph Mount Sterling, part of KentuckyOne Health, has received an ‘A’ rating from The Leapfrog Group as part of its biannual Hospital Safety Score. Saint Joseph Mount Sterling is one of approximately 800 hospitals nationwide to receive the highest rating designation, and one of 11 in the state of Kentucky.
“Our team of dedicated physicians, nurses and staff work hard to deliver the highest quality care to our patients. I am pleased to see our focus on safety, quality and service has been recognized by The Leapfrog Group,” said Benny Nolen, president, Saint Joseph Mount Sterling.
The Leapfrog Group scores more than 2,500 hospitals in the United States, using a seven-member panel to select and weight 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data. The Hospital Safety Score uses national performance measures from the Leapfrog Hospital Survey, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and the American Hospital Association’s Annual Survey and Health Information Technology Supplement. Taken together, those performance measures produce a single score representing a hospital’s overall performance in keeping patients safe from preventable harm and medical errors.
Through focus on infection prevention and reduction of hospital acquired conditions, such as falls, the leaders, physicians, nurses and staff earned an ‘A’ rating for their commitment to patient safety. Saint Joseph Mount Sterling has implemented a number of programs focused on improving quality and patient safety.
Saint Joseph Mount Sterling’s ‘A’ rating underscores the commitment that KentuckyOne Health has made to deliver high quality, safe care for the people of Kentucky. Through the use of evidence based practice, analytical and clinically relevant data and focused multi-disciplinary improvement teams, we are confident that quality and safety across all facilities will continue to improve.
